Our little bean started going to daycare/preschool last month. It is his first time away from home for such an extended period of time. We made this decision for several reasons. . .Scott really needed to be able to take day classes, he also needed the study time, and Sawyer needed more social interaction with his peers. (He is such a people person!) He loves going to "playschool" (he gets the title from his favorite TV show
Caillou.) We pack him a lunch everyday, since he is such a picky eater he doesn't always eat what is provided. Scott misses his buddy, but it has been a good decision and the new baby will be able to go to the same daycare come mid March, so they will be together.

The playschool had it's first field trip to the State Fair last week. Scott and I were very leery of letting him go to such a huge venue, so far away (northern Salt Lake), without either of us, so I took the day off and we went together. It was interesting......the daycare is located as pat of the local high school and it is a lab for those students looking at going into the childcare field. There were several high school students that went along, one for each child and all of the adult teachers were there. All went well, except for the two teenagers who took off (I felt justified in my worries when that happened.) He is on the far right in this picture.

One of my favorite parts was a section called
Little Hands on the Farm. It was a chance for the little ones to be "farmers." The following pictures are of that part of the Fair.
Here he is all ready to be a farmer. He has his apron and basket.

He fed and "milked" a cow.

He picked an "apple" from the orchard.

He planted a "seed" and harvested his crop. (He planted an "onion", but harvested a "carrot".)

He brushed a "sheep", gathered it's wool, and then went into the chicken coop. I love this picture of him looking at the "chickens."

After he had done all of this, he went into a building where he had to sort all of the things in his basket. He put them into the correct bins and then got a "dollar" for his hard work. We then walked into the Country Store where he was able to buy a snack with his hard earned money. He chose a cereal sample of Fruit Loops. It was so fun!
After the farm, we went to look at the livestock. We saw a lot of varieties of sheep, goats (Sawyer is petting one in the pic), cows, horses, rabbits, pigeons, chickens, and an emu. He tried to touch as many as he could. He loves seeing the different animals.

We also went into the produce building and looked at all of the fruit and vegetables. A favorite of the children was the GINORMOUS pumpkin. It was funny because they all had to lean on it. Sawyer kept wanting to go back to it.

After lunch, we were walking back towards the exit to get on the bus, when we saw a man walking his geese along the path. The kids all giggled to see the geese dressed up in their finest.

Overall, it was a fun day. Most of the little ones, and some of the teenagers, fell asleep on the bus ride back to the school. Then Sawyer and I went to get some frozen yogurt before we had to go and pick up Scott from the bus stop.
P.S. All of the dates on the pictures are wrong.
