He's 3! He is smart, funny, polite, and very tall for his age (he is in the 98th percentile for his height.) It still amazes me that I am allowed to be a mama to this special person.

For his birthday we had cupcakes a couple of times. The first time was a few days before his birthday at a house that Scott's Aunt Kathy was house-sitting. We had gold doubloon cupcakes and other pirate treasures. He had a hard time blowing out the candles, he blows through his teeth, it was cute to watch though. Plus, I accidentally got magic candles, so they would relight when he would finally get them blown out. Now before you say, "Yeah, right, you 'accidentally' got magic candles, sure Rachel..." it really was an accident. Let me explain... We went to the party store to get the plates and decorations and I let Sawyer pick out which candles he wanted. The first package he handed to me had "MAGIC Candles" written really big across the top. I told him that we should pick another package because those ones were "tricky candles." He put them back and we looked a few rows down and found another package that had similar candle colors and decided to get those. It wasn't until the candles started relighting that I realized they were ALSO "tricky candles." I was so mad! When we got home, I looked at the package and sure enough, up in the top corner, in small lettering, were the words "magic candles." It didn't even dawn on me to look closely since the other package had the word MAGIC written in large lettering across the top of the package, where the package that we ended up buying had CANDLES written in the same place. OK...OK...I'm done venting...calming down now...breathe... Needless to say that next time I will be looking VERY carefully at the entire package. Here are some pics of the fun...

The next time was on his actual birthday and Grananna brought him a cupcake. We decided to do the candle thing again. He still had a hard time, if you watch the candles somehow relight (I promise, they weren't "tricky candles" this time,) but he eventually got them out. I was relieved because I thought he was going to hyperventilate!
Then he got to dig in.

He said to us today, "I'm tired of being little, I want to be big." It was so cute, but also made me a little sad. I want him to be able to be a kid for as long as he can. I want for him to enjoy every minute, because it goes by way too fast, for all of us. He is amazing and I'm so grateful to have him in my life and to be able to call him mine. We love our Soybean and can't wait to see him grow and learn this next year.
