we have our baby girl! it was an eventful birth, to say the least. this is how it went.....i have chronic high blood pressure that is easily controlled with
meds. when i am pregnant i have to switch to a medicine that is safe for the baby, but not as good with keeping the
bp under control. this is the reason that by my 37
th week the doctors wanted me to get an
amnio to check the baby's lungs with the possibility that she would be delivered if her lungs were mature. well, i went in for my
amnio and the first thing they did was an ultrasound. when the
paranatologist looked at her growth, she thought that she was about 5lbs 8 oz which meant that she wasn't growing well. the doctor called my ob/
gyn and together they decided that they wanted to get the baby out asap without even doing the
amnio. about 2 hours later we were having a baby. when she came out i got about a 3 second look at her before they whisked her off to get her to breathe.
i'm not exactly sure how long it took to make that happen, but it was enough time for me to notice, tear up, and start praying. finally i heard that little cry. i cannot explain the relief i felt. obviously her lungs were not ready, but she was here and now she could grow the way she needed to. she ended up weighing 5 lbs 14oz and was 17 1/2 inches long. it is hard to tell in pictures, but she was pretty tiny.

i think that she is proportionate though. she probably would have been small no matter what. except for her size, i don't think that she looks premature.

i love this picture of my mom and
ailynn.

this is
scott's mom.

my dad didn't get to go into the
NICU because he had a cold the whole week. if you know my dad at all, you know that he is very tender, especially when it comes to babies. this picture is of the first time that he got to hold her. we all got a little teary.

we finally got her home. i think she likes it.

love the crossed eyes.

sawyer loves to give his baby hugs.

i love this picture of my two babies asleep on me. i must be pretty comfy.

she is the same size as the bear that sawyer got for
christmas.

he wanted to hold her on his tummy. (this was a day that he wanted to wear his coat for a while after we got home.)

we thought it would be funny to put her on this pizza box. it was a HUGE pizza!
ailynn and her ducky. she is gonna be
blond.

i love the little half smile on her face. she makes this face often.

four generations...my grandma
christie, my dad, me, sawyer and
ailynn.

finally, the video is a little long, but this is when sawyer got to see
ailynn up close for the first time.
